HILL AVENUE
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA
RESTORED | REVIVED | ENHANCED
HISTORIC RESTORATION | SPANISH REVIVAL
This Spanish Revival residence, nestled in the Cal Tech neighborhood of Pasadena, CA was renovated by MHA in 2011.
After several months in the planning and design process and obtaining approval from the city’s Design & Historic Preservation Department, we embarked on a journey to restore, revive and enhance what was a “diamond in the rough”.
The house was originally built in 1929 on San Pascual St. It was moved to it’s current location on Hill Ave in the early 60’s when Cal Tech purchased and sold off several homes to expand it’s campus.
The project involved correcting deferred maintenance issues, upgrading building systems, and incorporating period appropriate finishes, fixtures, cabinetry and furnishings.
Landscape was also a major part of the renovation. We created an environment for outdoor living which features the pool and spa, kitchen and dining, and a nice balance of annual and perennial color, trees and shrubs.
